We don't aim to build yet another general-purpose smart home platform. We develop practical, ready-to-use automation solutions for existing homes.
Instead of building every automation and control logic from scratch, you can start with a working solution and adapt it to your home. This is particularly useful for more complex tasks such as multi-zone heating and cooling control.
The system is based on open-source technologies, runs locally and can be expanded gradually. Existing equipment can often be kept and integrated instead of replacing everything at once.
DSVT is our multi-zone heating and cooling control system for existing homes.
It can independently control multiple rooms or heating and cooling zones, coordinate different heat sources, and use weather forecast data to improve temperature control in systems with high thermal inertia.
DSVT was designed especially for homes where the heating system has evolved over time – for example, where underfloor heating, radiators, a heat pump and an existing gas boiler need to work together as one system.
You can start with only one or two zones and expand the system later.
A traditional thermostat usually controls the entire heating system based on the temperature measured at a single location. In a multi-room home, however, different rooms often have very different heating and cooling requirements.
DSVT can monitor every room or zone independently. It determines where heating or cooling is required, controls the corresponding valves or actuators, and uses the combined demand of the zones to control the central heating or cooling system.
In many existing homes, installing a heat pump does not necessarily mean removing the existing boiler.
DSVT can coordinate multiple heat sources as part of the same heating system. Depending on the configured conditions, it can select which heat source should operate and when.
The objective is simple: use the appropriate heat source for the current heating demand and operating conditions.
Underfloor, wall and other radiant heating systems have significant thermal inertia. Even after heating has stopped, the building structure continues to release stored heat.
DSVT can use weather forecast data to anticipate significant changes in outdoor conditions. This allows heating or cooling demand to be reduced earlier and can help limit overshooting of the target temperature.
The core automation runs locally in your home and does not depend on a mandatory manufacturer's cloud service.
DSVT runs as a plugin for Domoticz and is intended to work as part of an open home automation environment.
DSVT is currently being prepared for wider international testing. We are particularly interested in feedback from Domoticz users running multi-zone heating or cooling systems.
The project is developed by the Szélessáv Public Benefit Foundation in Hungary and is released as open-source software.
